What is Emotional Freedom?
Emotional freedom is about gaining control over your emotional well-being. It involves breaking free from the negative feelings and limiting beliefs that hold us back. One fascinating method to achieve this is through a therapy known as tapping, developed by Nick Ortner. This technique, while it might seem a bit out there, has helped countless individuals release their emotional burdens and enhance their overall state of mind.
The Science Behind Tapping and Acupressure
Tapping utilizes principles from acupressure, focusing on specific points on the body that correspond to energy meridians. The idea is that when you tap on these pressure points while addressing a specific issue (like anxiety, sadness, or being overwrought), you stimulate your body’s energy system. Just as our thoughts and experiences can trigger low energy frequencies that resonate with uncomfortable feelings, tapping allows us to redirect that energy flow.
You see, our subtle body energy current operates on different frequencies; when negative emotions prevail, it can be quite heavy and low vibration. However, by using tapping techniques, you can shift this energy to a higher, more positive frequency, ultimately inviting feelings of inner peace and contentment into your life.
How to Tap for Emotional Relief
Ready to give tapping a try? It’s simple! Start by identifying the emotion you want to address, perhaps it’s anxiety or stress. Then, follow these tapping points:
- Karate Chop Point: This is on the side of your hand, opposite your thumb. A few taps here can set the intention.
- Eyebrow Point: At the beginning of your eyebrow, just above the nose.
- Side of Eye: On the bone bordering the outer eye.
- Under Eye: Directly below the eye on the bone.
- Under Nose: Between your nose and upper lip.
- Chin Point: In the indentation between your chin and lower lip.
- Collarbone Point: Just below the collarbone, typically around an inch to one side of the breastbone.
- Under Arm: This is about four inches below the armpit on your side.
As you gently tap on these points, verbalize your feelings or issues. For instance, you might say, “Even though I feel anxious, I deeply and completely accept myself.” As you progress through the points while focusing on your issues, you’ll likely notice a shift in your energy.
Feeling uncertain about it? Don’t be! What do you have to lose? I personally experienced the transformative effects of tapping during moments of distress. Each time, I felt a noticeable difference in my emotional state post-session. Why not give this odd yet powerful tool a chance the next time you're feeling overwhelmed?
By engaging in this practice, you’re taking a step toward emotional liberation, harnessing your inner energy for the better.
